Description:
I am selling my 2000 BMW M Roadster. This is a very fast, great handling car with a 3.2L inline 6 and 5 speed manual transmission. This is a full "M" car, meaning it is a fully modified BMW M-division version of the Z3. It is a very rare car in a appealing color combination. With such low miles, it is a very special car that will give you a lot of enjoyment.

I purchased this car near the end of 2012, and I am the third owner. The car is originally from Florida, so it has never seen snow and has rarely seen rain. I have documentation showing the previous owner - who was a doctor in Tampa, Florida - bought the car through the BMW Certified Pre-Owned program in March, 2002. I purchased the car near Tampa, and drove it to West Virginia. From there, it was trailer transported to Houston. I am not able to drive the car as much as I like, because I car-pool to work. That is one reason it has the very low mileage of less than 46,000.

The car is the best handling and also the fastest car I have ever owned. I have never taken it to the track or abused it. Here is a little information about the condition of the vehicle: The paint is what I think is excellent condition for a 2000 model year car. I have tried to document any issues with the photos, but these were taken with my cell phone and the car was not detailed. Any spots in the paint you may see are most likely faint water spots due to not being detailed. The paint has a great shine! Some exterior imperfections I have tried to document: There are a few small dings along the rear wheel arch and one or two on the doors. These are very minor and you must look closely for them. There is some kind of repair on the bottom of the front bumper, but I used my front license plate to cover it up. Again, it does not ruin the appeal of the car. There are some touched-up small scrapes along the side of the front bumper. I'm sure the touch-up is old and the paint could be matched better. The two front amber side markers are broken, but I never even considered replacing them because it didn't bother me. I replaced the front and rear BMW roundels with genuine OEM parts due to discoloration when I bought the car. I have also replaced the black rubber gaskets on the exterior door handles to make the car look as new as possible. The wheels are not perfect - there is some curb rash and the finishing has imperfections and some peeling. If you want it to look new, these would be a great candidate for refinishing. The wide rear wheels BMW fitted to the M Roadster are really beautiful. The tires are in acceptable condition but are not new. Replacements are not very expensive as they are 17" wheels. The top is probably the next area that would need attention if you are a perfectionist, as the trim around the window is worn. The top does not leak and the motor works as it should. Overall, its an almost-new looking car, especially for its age. It is sure to catch anyone's eye and I have gotten many thumbs up in this roadster.

The interior is also in remarkable shape, but I'd like to highlight the issues. The leather seats look like they can't possibly be 15 years old as they look great! There is a tear on the drivers seat that I would have repaired, but it does not ruin the appeal of the car in my opinion. Some common issues with this model are present, such as sagging glovebox and a small piece of door trim peeling. It has a great rear windscreen that really adds to the look of the car and cuts down on wind noise. The heated seats get hot FAST. The air conditioning does not blow cold, and I have not diagnosed the issue as I always drove the car with the top down. I have invested about $1,000 in the sound system since the stock Harman Kardon in these cars is not very good. I used 6" Alpine component and 4" speakers in the rear with a 4ch Rockford Fosgate amplifier passing through the stock headunit to an Audiocontrol line level input converter. Because the stock head unit is retained, everything looks 100% stock on the inside. I also have installed an additional amplifier, with an uninstalled 10" subwoofer in a custom Z3 carpet-matched box that I will include with the sale if desired. My goal was to retain stock looks with a sound system you can actually hear with the top down. I also replaced the faulty auto-dimming mirror with a refurbished OEM unit sold by the company that BMW recommends for this fix.

Mechanically the car runs like new, and I do not know of any problems. I recently changed the oil with Mobil 1 full synthetic. Some paperwork I have includes the pre-purchase inspection receipt from 2012. This work was done at European Autohaus, a BMW specialist near Tampa. The car received a full pre-purchase inspection. Belt tensioner and idler pulley were replaced due to wear, as well as a plastic trim piece behind the seats that commonly break on this model. I believe it was a very expensive part that was ordered from Germany. They also did a power steering service/cleaning. I also have a receipt from the previous owner where paintless dent removal was done for $950 in 2004.

Overall, this is an excellent and rare car with styling that still looks good against any new model. With such low miles and with so few made, this is sure to be more and more of a valuable collector item as it ages. Please contact me for details or additional photos. Thank you!
