Default shifting into 2nd

i get this lurching action when i try to shift into 2nd around 5-6k rpms from 1st. i dont abruptly pull my foot off the clutch. its linear but i definitely dont sit around and wait forever

ive found that i need to have the clutch in about halfway or so to get a smooth transition from that high of an rpm range. i was just wondering if thats always normal. my accord never had that problem

mind you, im not a newb or reckless driver by any means and i can make it smooth if i want it to. i just figured if you were ever at the track, this may be an area of concern. thoughts?

Somebody else told me about the same thing in a TSX. I think it's caused by DBW lag.

how does DBW cause this lag? if this is the case, is there anyway to get rid of it?

I don't know of a way to get around DriveByWire. The new S2000's have the same problem. Someone enlighten me if there is a way to get rid of it.

interesting, but it just sounds like these guys dont know how to shift

its nothing wrong w/ the shifter. its when i let go of the clutch in a linear, smooth fashion at about 6k rpms (mind you, i dont shift at 6k rpm that often) into 2nd and the car does a quick buck before it feels like it finds its step. 2nd to 3rd is no sweat in the same rpm range and im doing nothing different. ive never grinded into 2nd gear (or any other gear in this car, for that matter).

my only solution at this point is to take my time releasing the clutch after ive shifted into 2nd :dunno:

I noticed this on a test drive of a pre-owned TSX. Not as finicky as the AV6 6-speed though.

The TSX is definitely a lot easier to drive than the Accord IMO. But once I got more seat time in the Accord I began to appreciate the clutch a bit more...the engagement point is a low narrower, and I started to knock off some pretty good shifts as I got used to it. I never really got off a super smooth 1-2 or 2-3 upshift at 5 or 6k RPM in the TSX.
