I have a 1990 with a 1992 b18a1. Just wondering if it would be a good motor to put money into to fix up, as in horsepower? If not, is the b16 a better motor, as in faster or more powerful?

I'm assuming that you have a civic.
It depends on how much money are you willing to spend on your motor.
A b16a would run you about $1200 without labor.
Or you can put those $1200 on a turbo/supercharger.
I don't know much about the b18a1 and what numbers it would put out with turbo/supercharger, but it would be more hp than the stock b16a.
What condition is your current motor in?
If it has 140k+ miles on it forget about the turbo or supercharger.
The motor wouldn't last more than two years. Depends on how you drive it.
You'll be better off with the b16a.
