EF Civic Si/Dx
Is there a big difference between the EF Si and Dx when it comes to autocross? I've been looking for an Si casually for a while now and haven't had any pop up in the midwest in my budget range. A Dx has come up a few blocks away from me and I don't know if I should just get it or keep waiting for an Si. Anybody who can help out I appreciate it.

It's like night and day. The Si gear is more suited to autocrossing then the Dx. plus isn't the engine a 1.5 compared to a 1.6? So you have more torque and power.

I figured that was the case. I know we stress driving on here and not as much the car, but at some point there is a line and I think that may be it. Looks like I might have found an Si anyway.

The CRX DX had a dpfi 90hp engine...it also had longer gears but still a 5 speed manual.
The CRX Si came with mpfi (about 15 more hp) but the powerband was much flatter compared to the DX so it make much more power for a longer time. The Si also had much shorter gearing making it accelerate very well (in addition to its smaller diameter wheels). Also, 90-91 CRX Si's also came with rear discs (where all DX's had drums) You can make a DX very quick...mine is built for H5 / ITC specs...it has a chipped ecu, competition head, retains DPFI and it has the Si gearing in the dx transmission (had to keep stock transmission case)...I also have rear drums but they do a good job as the car is not too heavy (about 2050lbs with me in it) |
Well the world of STS has been upset with the EF finally being beat by something else :)
I'm hoping my EG Si will be faster than my EF Si. :) |
Yeah I was looking at the results from STS nationals. Why is it that all of the Civics are EF's? I would have expected to see more EG's, although I'm still pretty new to autocrossing.

The main reason I was looking for an EF was because they are typically cheaper and it's a little easier to find one that doesn't have a swap.
So since the 240 won this year will a dozen of those show up next year? |

I have a hard time believing he'll get that much for it!
