NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Sheb Wooley, a veteran actor in westerns like "High Noon" who also recorded the No. 1 pop ditty "Purple People Eater," has died, his wife said. He was 82.

I was eating at a place that has that whole nostalgia-50's feel to it, and they were playing that song, and I commented to my GF just how annoying that song was, and it also reminded me how much I hated Alvin & the Chipmunks!
