Trayvon Martin Case
I like how the media released pics of Martin from when he was like 12...putting that image into the public's mind making them think an innocent little kid was shot. Not saying he was guilty of anything...just sayin'
Well... he was only 17 - he still was a kid. Which does make it possible that he was immature enough to help cause an altercation too.
This doesn't look like someone who just had his nose broken and his head smashed repeatedly onto concrete

I know not every broken nose leads to a nosebleed, but one would think there should be some blood somewhere - on his shirt at least...

considering that the police wouldn't accept WITNESS TESTIMONY from witnesses whos stories differed from zimmermans.. while it may not be a conspiracy theory, the police were operating in zimmermans favor
the fact of the matter is that simply approaching someone does not negate your ability to defend yourself. if someone is breaking into my car i cannot legally shoot them but if i yell at them to stop and they come towards me i haven't lost my right to defend myself. furthermore, the fact that this kid was 17 means fuck all. a 17 year old can still smash your face in and leave you brain dead and dribbling soup from a cup. i'm not intimately familiar with florida's stand your ground law but in my state all that you need to be able to use justifiable homicide is the "reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm." that's a lot broader than just someone else having a weapon.
all that said, i'm not trying to pass judgement. zimmerman definitely fucked up by not disengaging. i don't know if the kid whipped his ass and got his just desserts or not but hopefully justice will prevail one way or another.

Mass is trying to incorporate the same "stand your ground" law. there was a case a year or so back at a local barber shop in the next city over where there was a gun fight in there. one guy ran away to his car to leave and the barber followed him out to his car and shot him point blank. the court ruled since the gun fight was technically over (the one man was running away and the barber gave chase) the barber was charged with man slaughter, not self-defense.
My prediction:
Zimmerman will be found not-guilty, a long time from now, just about the time where most of this has blown over. There will be outrage for a very little while, and all will be forgotten again.
Ahem-CaseyAnthony-Ahem.
