Thinking of buying a Civic of some sort, idea's comments?
Hey,
Right now I drive a 2002 Cougar (V6 - 5spd) but I like Civics, they're just neat looking and seem like they would be a blast to modify... I'm looking for an older one 92-96 I guess, something I wont have to pay more than $2k for ? The cheaper the better, I've got massive car payments with the Cougar... and only come out with about $800 a month spare money after all my bills, but that doesn't mean I have $800 a month to go soley to a Civic... My questions are I guess are: 1.) How slow are they stock? 2.) How much is insurance usually? (I'm 17) 3.) What should I get? (CRX, DX, etc...) 4.) Do I have to do an engine swap to make it as fast as Celica's and Eclipse's or are they already that fast? So sorry to sound like such a newb but I know hardly anything about these cars. Thanks |
1.) 17's in the 1/4
2.) probably 100-150 a month, depending on coverange and record 3.) If you don't want an engine swap, an si or ex... 4.) It's just as fast as RS/GS eclipses...but a b16 swap will make it faster than a celica GT (not sure about the GTS) and up their with the GSX/GST eclipses. somebody correct me if I'm wrong here... |
I'd get a CRX Si and swap it.
Woudl be pretty fast. |

The best thing to do is get an ex or Si (95) and swap an integra engine in it. In other words the engine codes are in the B series.

(labor + engine) if I get an ex or si would I need a "b16" swap? a b16a swap is basically the engine from a 00-01 Civic Si (and a few others, :blah: ). It's got 160 (170 maybe? I always get its power #'s confused with the b17a) HP, and its dohc vtec. When transplanted into a smaller body, (ie, a civic hatch), you can get very decent times and still be extremely reliable. This is one of the most common swaps for a civic. |

Originally posted by Morpheus 2 whats that supposed to mean? whats the point of buying an Si if you're going to swap in a b16 anyway? Might as well get an HF and save some money. |
How much does an Si engine cost? new or used...
What kind of Civic would I have to have to put that engine in it? Or are they all pretty much universal? Thanks for the fast responses |
