gsm is the latest cell phone technology to come out, thats why when cingular first came out they sucked now they piggyback off other gsm towers like att and tmobiles. thats why verizon has better coverage is because they are using old cell phone technology which is cdma so is sprint but in the long run they wouldnt be able to compete with gsm.

 

get a nextel phone

 

nextell is good but very expensive, its good if alot of the people you know have it so u can use the 2 ways.

 

tdma is not as good as gsm, except gsm is so new that all the towers aren't up yet. gsm is awesome since you can go online and check your email and send pictures and stuff, but all the gsm towers probably won't be up until late this year. So, if you can deal with some dead spots, it's definitely worth it.

Cingular used to not charge for roaming (until summer of last year, i think) but now they charge you up the arse for roaming. Cingular piggybacks off of other carriers' towers, but if you find yourself using the other towers, you're gonna pay big.

I love my new AT&T phone, btw. I just got the Shake ya Tailfeather ringtone.
