i priced one for a friend of mine last night & couldn't believe how cheap they are now 
2.2 celeron
128mb ddr ram
80gb 7200rpm hdd
48x cd-rom
4x dvd+rw/+r & 48x cdrw combo drive
17' monitor
all for $660 tax & shipping
i know it's not the fastest pc out there, but it'll suit my needs just fine....internet surf & mp3 cd creation mostly
the great thing is now i can stop lugging my laptop back & forth from work (was gonna be a pain to transport on my new Harley-just doesn't look cool w/ a laptop backpack)

Yeah, check the bargain sites like gotapex.com, techbargains.com, fatwallet.com, etc.
Just a few days ago was a basic Dell Dimension 2400 2.2ghz Celeron with 15" LCD flat panel monitor for $449. 40gb HD and 128mb DDR RAM too!
