I thought NASCAR used real cars back in the days, like hotrods and such. And I thought the rule was that the car had to be a production vehicle. now NASCAR uses purpose built racing cars from tube chassis and racing motor. i dont get it
I wanna see a neon make its way around the track at 200mph

& I'm not a hick either...
nascar is coo, except a lil repetitive and the poor nascar boys cant turn right! heheh its funny when they are on a road coarse and they hit a left goin hella fast but once that right comes in they crash like no other.
Yep Nascar is becoming ghey. It used to be good back in the day when people actually took their street cars down to the track. Did you guys know the only televised race back in the day was the Indy 500 until CBS decided to show a Nascar race live and from then on it was on every weekend. What sucks is Indy and Cart get the left overs from Nascar in terms of sponsor money.
I get into these arguments with these die hard Nascar fans because I tell them that there is nothing stock about Nascar and if I wanted to see stock cars I'd rather watch the BTCC races.

It's for safety reasons. The new Nascars are basically roll cages on wheels. The old ones were pretty much STOCK cars, hense the name STOCK CAR RACING. But in the late 60s cars like the Dodge Charger Daytona were breaking the 200mph mark in almost street trim, but there were too many accidents, and too many people getting hurt or dying. The safety rate today is much better.
Also back in the 60s cars were actually fast, 400hp cars from the factory were a dime a dozen. Now today, really tell me who would want to watch Ford Taruses and Dodge Intrepids driving in an oval, they probably max out at 120mph, wow real exciting.
