Quick thoughts about the basement...
I haven't met too many people on the site (LT & JGordon, of the currently active members), but I think I might be one of the people who is a little more lively "online" than in real life
h: I'm not that skilled in the social graces unless I'm with my normal crew or I've had a few
:edit: In terms of the more serious discussions: I used to like getting involved in these and speaking my mind, but like others have said, a few personalities kind of took over and turned it into a more combative atmosphere rather than a frank discussion. Now I stay out for the most part because angry opinionated people rub me the wrong way.

So why don't we call out these nameless persons?
I mean, I know who they are, you guys know who they are...maybe the don't know themselves.
It would either:
A) Let us move forward towards more civilized discussion
or
B) Ensue hilarity
:hsugh:

That was never the intention (as mentioned many times).
Well said, minus the expletives :exnbp: Having met Chris in person, he is like this in person.
This is true.
I find it annoying when I meet a person in real life from message boards to be completely different and socially inept. I'm not calling names, there's a few of you on here that are guilty of this.
Then there's people who post dumb replies that's either meaningless or without any substance. Fucking a you people are the shitstains of this site.
I don't go on here that much anymore mainly because the lack of personalities some of you guys have. Especially you negative fucks, get over yourselves. I can't imagine how some of you function in normal social settings without being creepy or weird. Find a new hobby, expose yourself to the sun more than 2x a week or some shit.

Well I'll be honest, I was thinking of nightshade when I posted #32. There are also a lot of not-currently-active members that were kind of incendiary and argumentative when it came to serious debate threads, but most of them are gone. But no hate against John, he has also been a source of some great content on this site and some personal help via PM. He's just a dick, and I think he knows it :chuckles:
I avoid getting into any serious debates these days because in most occasions it's just not worth getting aggravated over. There's a couple members I would probably be getting into it with on a constant basis if I just chose not to ignore them. I enjoy the threads the keep things in a lighter perspective and just make us laugh or are just interesting. They do seem to be a bit more rare these days, though. :hsd: But I think as a collective group we've gone through massive change because of all our individual changes as well. I've been on this board 8 years... and a lot of you way longer then that. I think I was around 23.. and now I'm going on 32. My life is no where near what it was at that age.. and I'm sure most of you could say the same. Many of you have gone on to get married.. become fathers.. homeowners.. go from jobs to careers.. etc. I think the Basement still has it's occasional moment though.. but I think it goes without saying that the change was.. and is inevitable.
