dudes, what's "cocktail" attire?
The company is having a party and we (employees) were told that the attire is "cocktail". For the ladies, there's "cocktail dresses" ... but wtf does that translate to for guys?

My guess would be a casual suit. no need for a tie.
|
is it just an informal work cocktail party or for a special event?
usually business casual is plenty fine for typical off the cuff work cocktail parties |
Dealt with this all the time at the Opera. Blazer with or without tie. You don't need a full suit, but don't wear jeans with the blazer.

Wife beater and Chucks. End of fucking story.

A piece of tail and your cock.

I'd go full on black suit with a tie... there is no such thing as over dressed in these situations. once you get there you could just leave the jacket in your car if you really feel uncomfortable. But if I use the "cocktail dress" as the basis, it's more less then formal attire but more than business.
