teh Accord is dead :(
My accord finally died last friday. Blew the headgasket at 248k miles going southbound on Hwy 85. Was driving, noticed that the temp was still below C even tho I had been on the road for about 20 minutes. While pondering what could be causing this (thermo stuck open?) the engine began to bog and a light shaking started. By the time I was able to merge to the right hand lane the engine died and I pulled into the shoulder with no PS/brakes/etc...
Popped th e hood and after a cloud of white smoke cleared I opened the oil fill port to see white/brown froath around the valve train :wtc:
Its dead
Driving a 2001 Chev Malibu LS until monday.
248k miles though on a 1987 Honda Accord LX that didn't have much in the way of preventive maintance. Earned many times its cost. Right now there are no Hondas in the family... a sad day.

my boy has an 87 LXI,..my gawd you dont know how much garage time i spend on that damn car,...he wont give it up either,..he delivers pizza in it,..he has stock suspension and it feels like a freaking boat,...sways back and forth,..long lasting car though
sorry to hear that.
well, at least you know exactly how much your car coulda given to you. I had a 91 civic hatchie with 286k miles when i bought it. I had to sell it, and by then, it had 306k and still runnin strong on the stock engine. It was sold to my buddy, who soon swapped it out for a ZC. I always wondered how much more the stock engine had left in it :happysad:
