i'm talking super basics. what kind of pole to get and why, what knots you need to know, stuff like that.
What are you fishing for?
Trout?
Salmon?
Bass?? Big mouth or small?
Pike?
Catfish?
What is even in the water you are going to be fishing at?
All these make a difference in what gear you need and what size hook, lure or bait you will be using as well. If you have small fish then you need smaller hooks since they can't fit a 2/0 in their little mouths.
Needs mo info foo.

Six foot pole and open face reel combo, six lb test line (strip the stock line off), a variety of spinnerbait and have at it.
Get a tackle box to store extra lures, scale/tape combo, toenail clippers and a pair of needle nose pliers. The rest will add as you put more time in.
Also grab a copy of the state fish and hunt regs and read it so you know the rules, ignorance can be expensive.
Find a nice stream...oh wait go to store and buy fishing license first...then gear...then some bait...sit on bank of stream, put bait on hook, cast your baited hook out...hopefully you've attached it to the fishing line...wait.
:cosign: :lmao:
Some of the easiest bait to use is Earthworms, white bread, or a corn kernel.
then get ready to catch lots of bluegills
