That's something that has bothered me. The main reason why we have a federal government is to bring equality amongst states with differing resources. It seems to me that if we're to have equal opportunity for all, the local governments shouldn't be involved in funding. If The People decide to shun equality, then it should be done by rule of law.

Its part of the whole thing about States rights. I have seen this problem first hand in NH where I grew up and my parents still live. I love the fact that the only taxes you pay in NH are federal and state property tax. There is no state income, alcohol, tobacco, or gasoline tax...therefire it is up to the property taxes to fund everything from police and fire, to town roads, to schooling. The richer areas of the state such as the seacoast have the best schools since funding is done by county...but as you get further out west near Vermont and up in the mountains there is less tax revenue and pubic shools hurt. Still the cost of living in NH is so low. Like every state it has it's pluses and minuses.

That's what happens when politicians porkbarrel...I think that's the term...

When a good bill gets all kind of BS tacked on so it won't pass....freaking :ghey:

It is sad....to think that they would favor having pro sports rather than education....the mighty bucks win all...I guess

On a different note...maybe this is why we're ranked second to lowest in mathematics....but we ranked first in our self-esteem about math...hehehe
