i am now a green belt in...

the Marine Corps martial arts program, or MCMAP as we like to call it. we've been learning the moves all week and tested out today and, not surprisingly, everyone passed. :woohoo:

btw, if i tried using any of these techniques in an actual fight, i'd have my ass handed to me. :chuckles:

Nice to know our tax dollars are hard at work to insure you have proper hand to hand contact training. :hsughr:

:o

at least now i have a cool green belt to wear with my cammies instead of this ugly gray one i've been wearing the past 2 months :o

"Kick the dude in the balls" Must be a black belt move.

hope it holds your belt up good.

what do you guys do btw? lots of throwing and grappling? you do disarming and knife combat at all?

pressure points. hip and shoulder throws. counters to various punches and kicks. knife and baton strikes. wristlocks, armbars, etc. as you progress through the belts you learn more ground fighting. for green belt we learned counter to the mount and guard.

hmm interesting.

now what level is green?

if white is the 1st, green is what?

Snoopy 06-03-2009 07:56 PM

tan
gray
green
green instructor
brown
brown instructor
black
black instructor

instructors can teach all techniques below them and certify you for a belt

ShaolinLueb 06-03-2009 08:02 PM

cool. i'd like to see some of the stuff you learned. i have knowledge of pressure point, joint locks, takedowns, throws and would like to see what you guys do. its the gun disarming and knife disarming/fighting stuff that i like. been doing some short stick/baton stuff lately.

Snoopy 06-03-2009 08:17 PM

youtube search "Marine Corps martial arts program"

havent gotten to disarming techniques yet. those are probably brown and black belt.
