Wisconsin: 17 year olds are charged as adults unless they petition to get into juvenile court, and the case must be accepted by the court (bottom of article).

Ah yes. The reason the DA gives for charging the girl less harshly than the boy is that the girls' boyfriend has a birthday coming up in February, whereas the guy's girlfriend's birthday is in *gasp* April!

What the fuck is wrong with these people?
