I think what Jesse is trying to say is... the kid shouldn't necessarily be out and about firing guns all on his own... but learning about them at an earlier age would benefit the kid

Somebody fucked up in this situation...

:dunno: i was shooting well before i was 8 BUT i didnt have access to one at any time until i was about 12. it doesnt matter if he was shooting a uzi or a 22 ... the training / safety factor on part of the instructor was inadequate. its not like they were teachin the kid to go to war, they were at the gun club having a fun shoot.

and this was not well controlled ... that instructor should have had his hands placed on the gun with the kid at that age. common sense dictates in full auto he might not be able to keep it from tracking upwards

i also lay blame on the father, he should know his sons abilities ... at 8 i highly doubt even my pops would let me stand there with a full auto gun and fire away, he'd have had at least one hand on the gun or at the very least have had his hands on my body helping me

i asked myself the same question, why didnt the isntructor have a hand on the gun so the recoil wouldn't take the face off.

im not trying to start an argument but i'll make this point ... growing up in diferent family circumstances provides different mentalities. we dont know that kids family history BUT i know in my family everyone is taught from the minute they can walk / talk about the proper respect and care for firearms. they arent something that are just pulled out here and there to play with. we have them all around all the time, i think every household in my family has at least 1 loaded firearm in the master bedroom. if you are always around them and its always trained to you then its quite easy to see someone at 8 years using a firearm

its quite similar to the concept that fire is hot ... you know not to touch it cuz of what will happen. you know not to play in the street because of the dangers.

i agree, this kid did not belong using that firearm like he did, but thats not to say no kid does

im not arguing at all, that is true some kids are brighter then others some have more common sense then others. you do have a point if your around something from a very young age, you have a better understanding and more respect for something. im talking in a general when i say a 8 year old shouldn't learn to shoot a uzi.

no i guess i get that too

i mean i disagree, but then again ive been around guns so long that imo a guns a gun just some kick harder than others. i had shot 12 gauges before i was 12 and those have way worse recoil than a uzi but again those times i did do that my dad was helping hold the gun and he would have me back up into him so i wouldnt fall over ... he was concious of what the gun was capable of
