Basically, the only way to get an arc from vertical and horizontal lines was drawing out a circular shape. Now I want to get rid of the rest of the circle and just keep the arc but erase REALLY fucks it up.

I think he only wants the arc bewtween the lines to appear.....the red part in attached photo. :dunno:

Yes. And when I try to erase the remainder it doesn't using normal methods.

Select the dark circle layer and erase it.

Then you did somehing wrong, most likely you created a new layer with a solid black background so that the image behind it won't show.

I would have done it right the first time myself :p

use the select tool, select what you want deleted, press delete. not that hard
