Default Destination Weddings....

my friend is getting married in exactly 1 year, she is hell bent on a st. lucian resort; it started out with a reasonable price but she bumped up to a resort that is on the expensive side.

I am a groomsman, so i pretty much have to go.

now my delimma is three fold...

1. how do i tell her that her asking us (my gf is a bridesmaid) to pay for an even more expensive place is gonna hurt our wallets?

2. People are telling me that some brides go for a more expensive resort because the travel agent will get them their expenses free if they can get a group of people to go.. which seems underhanded but understandable...

3. do i have to buy them gifts? i mean isn't shelling out 2000+ (EACH ) for the trip enough?

thanks....

oh another thing.. how do i bring up the fact that the resort she wants was reviewd well for families with kids.. and poorly for young couples

I always thought that was covered to some degree by the wedding couple...

I would get a room elsewhere.

I hate when brides go ape-shit and want 15 star resorts for a weeding that she will probably end up crying because it wasn't what she envisioned.

I'd hate to pull weeds on my wedding day h:

Seriously though, as everyone mentioned, get a room else where, just say you don't have the funds for it but you will still be there h:
