HAN Recommend me a mobile GPS
Anything Garmin, pretty much. Questions for you...
How would you like it to speak to you? In terms of street names or distances?I don't know. I would have thought that would be an option on the device. Probably distances
Do you think a larger screen would be beneficial? Say you have large fingers and small buttons give you a hard time.... Eh, it would be nicer for a larger screen but as long as its a decent size I'll be fine.
Do you want this to alert you of traffic conditions and, if possible, route you around it?Yes, that would be nice.
Do you want it to sync-up with you phone for placing and receiving phone calls, calling the POI's if necessary and so on?Not necessary. My sister got one with bluetooth for that and it didn't work(Verizons fault). But those go up in price a lot
Do you travel a lot? In-state or out? I don't travel a whole lot, but obviously when I do I will be wanting it to work
Are you using it for work or just to get around town?Just to get around town.
Thats pretty much it. Answer and you shall receive my recommendation. I've been selling these things for over three years now BTW.

I like that feature. That would be nice.
I have an HP iPAQ 310 Travel Companion. Mostly bought it for its graphics quality. It has a 4.3" 800x480 screen and renders the topography (plus buildings in the bigger metro areas) in 3D. It also comes with software to install on your PC so you can plan out a trip and multiple stops without having to tap it all in to the touch screen. It doesn't do live traffic info and it doesn't talk the street names (just "take the next left turn in 300 ft" and highlights the street name on the map). Not sure on the other brands if this is a common feature but it has an SD card slot and PMP functions so I can take it on the plane and watch videos on the really-nice screen instead of busting out my laptop. For what I wanted it works pretty solid.

Keep in mind with the iPAQ 310 that I honestly didn't do too much research when I bought it. I was at my local CompUSA's going out of business sale. I got sucked in by the "40% off all GPS" sign, saw this, called a friend who looked up a bit of info on it and that was all she wrote.
There may well be plenty of other ones out there that are better at navigation but don't quite have as nice of a screen or graphics quality. For example the Garmin Nuvi 5000 apparently has the same resolution in a 5.2" display, and some more trick features. The iPAQ 310 is more like yer typical basic GPS navi that happens to have a kickass screen and graphics. I'd go do some research and pick something...just keep the HP in mind as an option when you do.
