Who's into car detailing?

Since the show and shine forum moves slowly, who in the basement has a Detailing regimen for their cars?

I just bought my PC 7424 and went to town on the evolution.

luckily, theres a somewhat local detailer that holds free detailer clinics every now and then. he's an awesome detailer, and shares all his knowledge very openly. so i went to the first clinic of 2008.

heres the webstore www.showcardetailing.com/eshop

I always wondered why the paint wasnt as glossy as other weightless white (03-04) evo's. the below pics shows the lack of luster in direct sunlight. I've heard from random, unverifiable sources that some 03-04 evo paints were single stage. going to the clinic, some of the more experienced detailers looked and tested my paint, and verified that it was!

so we did some test spots, the below being done with a makita rotary, orange lake country pad, and prima swirl.

i couldnt believe the difference in color. its basically like the paint has a layer of dead, oxidized paint, like plaque/tartar on our teeth.

we did another test spot on the hood using the PC7424 and while it takes longer, it produces the same results.

those were the pics that Richard (the guy hosting the clinic) took, i'll post mine up later...

Mothers Claybar
Poorboys SSR2.5 for bad spots
Poorboys SSR1.0 for whole car
Klasse AIO sealant
Also have some Meguiars Show Car Glaze, but didn't use it in conjunction with the rest....going to experiment with waxes on top of the Klasse this spring.

I use a lot of Malco products because I have access to them for free through the dealer I work at, but I use Poorboys EX-P sealant and Natty Paste Wax whenever possible.
