Man goes off to war and gets bombed, he has no arms, no legs, no face, can't see and cannot hear. Basically the worst thing to ever happen. He talks to himself to keep sane, but it doesn't last long. It's a classic movie, very sad.

I havent seen it for a while, but like usless said, the song One by Metallica is about that movie.

Disturbimg depending on how you view it really. I think it is an interesting study on the horrors of war and the reality people were hit with during WWI. Never before in history had we seen such large scale atrocities and the new weapons being used brought many of them such as Johnny.

Interesting you should bring this up tonight of all nights because my daughters and I were discussing this on the drive back up to their mothers tonight.

Not even close.

Probably closer to Deer Hunter in a round about way but even that is a far cry from the same story. Deer Hunter is more about the mental distress than physical.

Honestly, I never saw either so I was just making that up.

Dog day was interesting though Pacino annoys me after a while.

Deer Hunter was a great flick but kind of slow in parts.

Both are well worth watching though and I would also add in Apocalypse Now if you want to round out a good night of sub-human behaviour.

I guess i'll check it out. I wonder if blockbuster online would have the DVD

Edit: Just checked blockbuster and sure enough they don't have it, but netflix does of course. I guess it's time to sign up for netflix.
