I do 2 unless I have to bring my kid to school, in which case i let the car warm up before i put him in it

30-60secs for oil to warm and coat all moving parts then keep rpms under 3-3500 till norm op temp

idle for 10-20 sec, then drive lightly until engine is at operating temp.

i have 209k miles (157k by me) of yearly new england winters to attest for it.
