Default Anyone ever have a hernia? (serious)

I put a serious tag, so if this thread derails (af,lee, ect), warns will be issued by Drew. h:.

When doing squats or deadlifts I feel this somewhat sharp pain where my leg meets my pelvis. I only slightly feel it when I walk, but I feel it greatly when doing a squatting motion. I have been wearing a belt when doing squatting and deadlifts lately, and it does not ease the pain.

Things I've noticed around when it started to hurt.

1. I just started playing in my adult hockey league. I havent played in about two years.
2. When doing squats and deadlifts I noticed I used to point my toes out a decent bit.

I've read that it could also be a hip flexor strain, but i am unsure. I will try to go to the doctor next week, but I thought I would ask HAN MD first.

-There is no bulge near my abs now, but there may be one when I am squatting.

Thanks guys.

go to the doc, srsly.

an old coworker had a similar thing and ignored it, ended up getting surgery because it tore even more and became very painful.

Sounds like a sports hernia. I have a similar problem.

I started doing groin exercises, like hip adductor and what not, with light weight. I've been doing that along with stretching and it seems to of helped.

It could also be an inguinal hernia where it protrudes through the same canal that your nuts drop through: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inguinal_hernia

hmm. not sure, but recently i think i might have a sports hernia. every now and then when i lift things i get a sharp pain around my hips and sometimes when i'm sitting weird or walking i randomly get the sharp pains. no idea what it really is. hoping it'll just go away...

hope you don't have one though. you should get it checked up soon, these kinda things get worse as time progresses...obviously.

Fixed

Go as soon as you can, and don't forget to tell them that you started playing hockey. Get better and get stronger.
