I wasn't trying to rip on the tat because it is a nice tat, but the history goes back to the sailing days and the men would get "mom" put on after their mother passed in memory.

To know the meaning behind a particular tat is just as important as getting a cool tat and to those who know it will always be a question asked

i know that it's traditionally done after they've passed away and wondered if i should wait or not, but my mom's really into tattoos, and i wanted her to be able to see it before she goes. i figured i'd add dates to it once she actually does pass.

and i didn't put mother because i've never once called her mother.

and since when does it matter what other people thing or make mention of? Robert has freaking cartoon characters on his calves, I doubt he cares what other people think of his ink.

It's cool doesn't matter to me much really. I know others who have done the same and I have mentioned the same thing and also that I find it creepy to place it on before death.

Either way though the ink itself is really good work and RB is a maroon.
