the only thing i dont like about only listening to the commentaries and rebuttles afterwards is that i dont get a chance to form my own opinion before hearing the medias spin on it. this year, it just didnt really warrant listening at all...

a dislike for the president doesnt mean you have no stake in what's going on. i thought president clinton was the biggest shmooze ever but still sat through his windbag speeches, carrying on for an hour +

listening to dissent is the only way to strengthen your own ideas.

just because you disagree with the president, doesnt mean his policies wont affect you. be an informed citizen :slap:

*all of the conflict zones
*alternative fuel types (wind, water, nuclear)
*reducing our gas consumption
*reducing the nat'l deficit (which was hoped to be halved by 2009 but that goal was met 3 years early)
*making healthcare more affordable for lower income people w/out making it a federal program

those are the topics i most clearly remember...

No, the piss poor attitude that ruins America is the one held by people who think that listening to speeches by two liars* will make any difference in their lives. We have the best government money can buy, and politicians who need us only to get themselves elected. After that, they do what they damn well please...meaning, they jump aboard the gravy train. As for our so-called president, he ignores the results of the last election AND the report of the Iraq Study Group, and is probably sitting around the White House wondering why his poll numbers are lower than Nixon's during the depths of Watergate. Duh.

*: Remember the answer to the age-old question, "How can you tell when a politician is lying?"
