does selling a product through a website automatically make u a business?
if yes, do i have to:
1. register the business with the state/ county?
2. pay taxes on all my sales?
Depends... The IRS will always tell you yes.
Officially registering it as a business doesn't matter so much, as long as you pay taxes. There is a limit, if you make less than xxx sales per year, totaling less than xxx dollars, then it falls under a private sale. Similar to a garage sale.
If you have employees, its a totally different story.
no employee fo sho.... annual sales prob around $5K - $10K... i'm just afraid of the IRS busting down my door followed by a cameraman from the cops series h:

I seriously doubt they would bust your door for such a small amount. There is a spot on your income tax sheet for misc. earnings. Just claim it on there.
I've sold that or more worth of stuff online in the past, and never had a problem. Maybe you should do a few google searches.
where did u sell online? ebay? tht will be one channel i will be using, but i plan to develop my own website down the road.... with ebay, i can hide my income from the IRS cos i'm just using ebay's service.... but with a website, i'm basically my own business... guess i need to do more research on business law in cali h:
