Is benchpressing...

bad for your heart? My teacher told us it makes your heart thicker on one side or something... He used to bench 3 something before his 6 way bipass:(.

geezzz I hope that's not true :ugh:

I was planning on hitting the gym again at the end of the month, I guess i'd take it easy then since I have MVP.

Good question. I just did a search and found something interesting:

If you have breathing problems or problems with high blood pressure, you should consult a doctor before lifting. You have to hold your breath in order to get tighter and lift more weight. By holding your breath, you will increase your blood pressure, which is why you need to be careful.

i hope that's not true too. I would say it wouldn't, only because you don't really use your heart muscle when benching since most weight lifting is anerobic.

(sorry if this comes off as changing the thread topic (it's still about benching) does anyone every get sore shoulders from benching. on the back of the shoulder hyperextension maybe?)

holding your breath while lifting is a huge no-no.

Yea...I was gonna say that's not right.

You're suppose to inhale when you compress and exhale when you lift.
