Default Video Card

I want to get a new video card for my home PC. They are something I know nothing about. I just put a friends old one in mine when I built it. What makes a good video card? I don't play games or anything. My only requirement would be dual VGA and maybe s-video.

Also, I have an AMD 64-bit 3200+ processor on an ASUS nvidia board with 1 gig of DDR 400mhz ram. I haven't overclocked yet and I still have room for another stick of ram. Other than that, what can I do to speed her up a little (with my current processor and mobo)?

clean out spyware/adware, remove unnecessary processes

reformatting helps. :exnbp:

you have to figure out if you have AGP or PCI-Express... if you look up the mobo model number, or open up the case, you should eb able to figure it out.

then you can start shopping for video cards.

Yeah, I have it down to minimal processes and run adaware a lot. I just thought this was a decent processor but it seems like it bogs down a lot if I have a few things open (mozilla, iTunes, AIM, Word).

My motherboard is PCI-Express.

Also, who's noticed that as long as you only use one tab in mozilla it's fine but as soon as you open more than one it kills your memory usage?

well.... are you using the latest version...

older versions of mozilla and firefox had memory leaks.

i have a radeo dual-haed vid card that if you pay the shipping, it's yours

i think the output options are:

(1) vga
(1) dvi?
(1) s-video

& i think it has 128mb on-board ram

see nightshades thread from a few weeks ago about ram where i described it more

more than likely you have a agp slot and i dont think you will find any/much with dual vga ports. they will be 1 vga 1 dvi 1 svideo
i suggest a radeon 9600xt or geforce 6600 for well under $100
