i had 3 old NES pads laying around so i bought the USB kit and wired one up. man, this thing works flawlessly. i get all giddy playing NES on the PC with the original controller. it's freakin' perfect.

i highly recommend it if you feel like spending the cash. =)

Im just going to buy the premade ones. Dont care if they cost more. I just dont believe in butchering controllers that i've had since the nintendo came out. But nice pics

what do you think you're buying when you get the premade ones? "butchered" controllers, except that they're not butchered. you simply clip off the original cable and solder in the new USB cable with the pre-programmed circuit board. easy to revert back to stock if you wanted, but why would you? :oh:

besides, these three NES pads i had, i bought used for like $2 each with the intention of wiring them up for the PC. two of them i had already wired up to work through the parellel port. it never worked as well as i wanted though. i mean, it worked, but there was a bit of lag or chop in the signal or something.

I'm getting butchered controllers...but they are not "MY" butchered controllers. My nintendo and all it's accessories hold a sentamental value to me that doesnt allow me to start hacking pieces off. Id rather buy someone elses hacked peices

I think that's another reason why I wouldn't do this without an extra controller:hs:

ok, valid point, but again, nothing about this is hacked. if you don't want to modify your original pads, i understand that. but nothing is hacked to pieces. look at the pictures, notice how clean the kit wires in.

it's freakin' awesome, dude. i'm thinking of ordering another kit so that i can get some 2 player action going. it's just too bad that it isn't cheaper, but i doubt a cleaner kit exists.

if you question your soldering skills at all though, it's also probably not a bad idea to get the premade controller.

i'll have to post of a pic of the finished product later, but as i'm sure you guys can guess, it's just a NES pad on a USB cable. :p
