Default Should Iran be allowed to continue its uranium enrichment program?

Well, we all hear President Ahmadinejad repeatedly say that they are enriching uranium for peaceful purposes (energy). Although there is more pressure on North Korea since they have actually detonated a nuclear warhead, thus we know their purpose for enrichment.

Keep in mind Iran is a cultural ally (population is very western influenced), Iran has funded known terrorist group - Hezbollah - millions of dollars, Iran is very persistent in developing nuclear energy despite threats of sanctions.

What do you think?

Yes, I think they should be able to. Why not? If they are trying to take a step forward for the better of their society and they say they are doing it in a peaceful manner, who are we to tell them that they can't. We enrich uranium for nuclear power; how can we go tell other countries that they aren't allowed to? It's exactly the kind of behavior that makes other countries not like us.

Sure, Bush is trying to incinuate that Iran is trying to enrich uranium for ill-purposes. He also accused Saddam of harboring WMD in Iraq.

nuclear power does not require the level of enrichment that they're working towards.

All nations should be allowed to built on their nuclear technology whether its for electricity or bombs.
Now Iran doesnt have an excellent history with terrorism and their now leader but, I can see why we are being hasty about it.
Basically I guess the U.S thinks if Iran continues and makes nuclear weapons that they will fall into the wrong hands.

I highly doubt any country with nuclear weapons would try launching one because I would turn around and press my red button and send some over to that country as well.

The enriched uranium used in most nuclear reactors is not concentrated enough to build a bomb. Most nuclear reactors run on 4% enriched uranium; Little Boy used 90% enriched uranium;
"Little Boy" was the nuke dropped on Hiroshima.

Iran is trying to enrich up to 90%, last i heard.

My answer would be...US-controlled enrichment on Iranian soil with supervision on nuclear energy stations.

If Iran wasn't clearly tied to Hezbollah, the Security Council wouldn't be coming down on them like they are. Fear of nuclear proliferation to terrorist groups is a big deal.

Let him do it. Apparently these days American society would rather be reactive than proactive.
