Ask loafiedb. He moved to the states from south africa like 3 years ago. And i'm also pretty sure they speak dutch. Because he speaks it fluently, and one of the natives "Afrikaan's", is pretty damn close to dutch, i think.

Yeah it is, because the first "immigrants" were Jan van Riebeek (sp?) who was of dutch decent and they started the first colonies in the cape, later on when GOLD was discovered in the Oranje Transvaal the british came over and started fighting (Anglo - Boer war) through all that the 2 languages adapted and became afrikaans

These are the "Official" national languages -

Afrikaans
English
Ndebele
Northern Sotho
Sesotho
Swazi
Tsonga
Tswana
Venda
Xhosa
Zulu

Yeah its Johannesburg, for some reason i think he does speak afrikaans or atleast had something to do with afrikaans because he uses it alu - mini - um which is the way it is pronounced in afrikaans , although it can just be him.

English isnt really the "upper" class language, afrikaans is actually still the "main" language , not because of the amount of people who speak it natively, but because if you know afrikaans you would get along with everyone, they will understand you, with english only you will have a "harder" time getting along.
