Weird question...anyone ever smash their toe?
I managed to drop stacks of lumber on each big toe in two different occasions during the fall. One of them has exactly what your describing. When it reaches the end of the toe, you'll find that the nail has seperated from the skin at and around the discoloration. YOu will then be able to trim the nail to the end of where it is turned colors. Then it will grow back just fine.
My other tow, however was much worse. After a couple months It fell off completley. It has now grown back to about 60%.
I've had this happen in the past a few times, so I know it'll be just fine.

dropped a 35lb dumbbell on my right big-toe once. it bled, bruised up, and eventually became infected. the black/purple/grey crap spread to about 50% before i tried using perscription Lamisil (damn expensive) for 3 months, but that didnt solve anything. its been 3+ years since then and the discoloration is gone, but the dead part of my nail goes further back than normal.
it sucked
