Default Off to the shop :(

Well found out what my problem with the camera was finally.

Turns out I had a pin on the card slot that got bent somehow and wouldn't make connection. so now I am taking it in tomorrow to get repaired. They are hopeful they can just bend it back into position which they have done before and had no issues with it. If they can't then it is going to cost me $150 to have a $4 part replaced since it involves opening the camera up completely

But I am still looking at the 1DMKIIN in the very near future and leave this camera as my backup camera. :happysad:

The pin is measured with a micrometer in thickness so I doubt I can grab it with a set of needle nose...not to mention the confines I have to work in and the other pins around it.

I'm stoked that you figured it out. I'll remember that lesson. Makes me want to examine all of our cards for the integrity of the plastic on the CF. BTW.. what was the code that you were getting?

It was an "Error 02" reading on the LCD.

You know, it's funny. From the exposures I've seen you get, YOU don't need the 1dMKII. The 3 people that I know that have one, only 2 really need it. I've been doing color correction for some time, and from what I've seen from that camera is when shots are under exposed, you can save shots. We do debutante stuff that goes straight into albums for about $800 a piece (You can imagine the BIG events). 1dMKII will save the shit out of a photographer that under exposes their candid shots, in addition to the formal shots we take with umbrellas and lamps. It's a great camera, but only for photographers that miss from time to time.

But I'm not mad if you get one. lol

Oh I do my share of misses and I sometimes spend a lot of time trying to salvage an image...then end up tossing it anyways.

I want the 1dMKIIn mainly for an update, buffer, 50 ISO, focus and meter points. This would all make a decent image just that much better and give me more money shots with less time spent in the post process. I suppose I could do it with a 5d just as well but the buffer and ISO aren't there on it and the 20d though a good cam won't last much longer than the 10d will. I also need the sealed body since I shoot in a lot of dust, rain, snow and mud conditions as well.

You know your shit h: When you have a shot, and your levels are like
20-1.8-205, if you had a 1dMII, you'd need half that to save it.

Plus no on Camera flash, one less chance of getting dust in it.

Plus Full Frame

Actually the MKIIn is a 1.3 crop sensor but it is a faster framerate than the MKIIs.

So basically the N is more sports oriented and the S is more studio oriented, though both will work well in either setting. The N gets 8.5 fps up to something like 36 shots and the S gets 4.5 fps up to 36 or something like that. I would like the full frame sensor but I am used to the crop and have no issue with it.

The N is also smaller MP count at 8.5 (I believe) as opposed to the S with 16.7.
