Yes...yes there is a problem there.

But for those who either don't know or don't care then it will do just fine, for those of us who actually use our computers Dell is pretty low on the list.

Actually, Alienware doesn't have the best quality. I was reading an article about a few guys who got their computers, 5 hours into gaming and it goes out on them. Then Alienware wouldn't do anything about it. There have been alot of people that its happened to.

Custom built > *

As long as you know what you're doing obviously. And obviously you'll have nill for computer support if something goes awry.

I've been meaning to build my own computer forever. I have a Dell, and it works fine for basic functions, but I need more.

Yeah in the last couple years they have been more a name than anything else, but when they started they were worth every penny they charged. I think their name just got bigger than they did and they are having a hard time keeping up. This may be part of the reasoning for the sale of the company.

See, I don't actually use a computer for anything productive so it has to at least be pretty.

They got that reputation because they used to be, and for the most part still are, designed for hardcore gamers and are the only company out there that specifically dwells in the gaming community and builds for them.

Heeeelll no.

http://www.falcon-nw.com/

Falcon has been around a lot longer than Alienware and their computers are much better as well imho. The reason alienware gets the rep is because they went for "zomg bling blang" in styling, etc.

Alienware is the Lamborghini of computers. "Look at me, I'm green and my doors open like this!"
