On a similar note, I hate those geezers that that come into a class and think they know everything and think they are right just because they are, 'old' and been through a lot more in life compared to everyone in the class...even the professor.

In my Visual Comm class this morning, the same clique of vapid pop-culture whores kept running their mouths while the professor was lecturing. :a:

I don't pay $2000+ a semester to put up with that kind of shit. :rant:

 

I think its cool old people dont give up and still go after what they want. Hey they paid for the class and are just as interested. I remember this guy that was in his 70s at my school, and yeah, he versed the professor a time or two. Funny what real life gives you. School is just a paper. I learned so little in my college experience compared to what I have gained in the 7 years since. Dont act like such big shots, you cant judge anything yet.

 

Imagine paying 2k a quarter to sit through this kind of garbage... what's worse is when they sidetrack the professor, he goes along with their tangent, he doesn't get done with his lecture then has the gall to ask us questions on the midterms/finals about it.

 

:a: I hear you.. if the material is only found in his lecture, then it's up to him to either a) stay on track or b) drop the questions from the mid-term. That said, if the topic is in the assigned reading, I still consider it fair game. h:

The problem I'm dealing with is a flood of absurd gossip that isn't even remotely related to the class. This is taking place in an upper-division class; so when the professor starts talking, it is time to shut the hell up and learn. :squint:

 

I have a teacher that does that, one moment he'll be talking about physics, the next he'll talk about hunting, then flashlights, and somehow bring it back to physics.

 

I love how someone stupid talks about the topic, makes no sense, and then the next person paraphrases what the previous person said. no hint of thinking going on, just recycling the same garbage. I had to take a short stories class and I spent most of my time playing games on my PDA. it was so boring and the discussions were so lame.

i paid for the class as well and i don't like 45 of my 50 minutes to be wasted because the person can't wait until after class or won't get a tutor.

if younger people did this more often rather than play tea party, i would say the same thing about them.

and are you suggesting that education is a waste of time?
