Yeah. My old apartment we had a 9 foot table in the Basement and my roomie and I shot a couple games a night every night, then I didn't play for months.

We have a table at my school, and I'll stay there sometimes until late at night to shoot free games. Past three weeks I've played anywhere from 2-8 hours of pool per day just getting my shot back.

When I'm on, I'm on...my consistancy was hurting in the beginning because I lost the feel and the eye for cuts, banks, English, etc.

I hear yah. I was playing with bar stick last night and the stick was actually pretty ok, but I decided I was gonna buy one right then and there because no joint sticks suck ass and I want to be able to know if it is the stick, the shooter, or the table that is screwing up.

I'm honestly not too picky when it comes to cues, although given the preference I'll take a soft tip with whole lot of shape and wood only for me. I don't like the feeling of fiberglass at all.

I can get used to whatever I am shooting with in a few games so I don't see myself spending gonzo cash on a cue. I tend to live by "It's not the sword, it's the swordsman."

I love playing pool...but I suck at it.
It doesn't help that most places I go to have crappy cues, balls, and bumpy felt...and most of the cues are too heavy (I prefer a 17 or 18)

I agree on the swordsman thought, but anymore to get anything decent that isn't gaudy as all hell (read as themed cues) you tend to have to hit the $100 plus mark. Of course if you are spending that kind of money you may as well get the best you can afford without blowing your load. Then theres things that help like the ivory ferrels, various tapered ends, weighting...:blah: the list goes on.

Kinda depends on where you are at in the game too. Casual shooter does fine on bar cues, frequent shooter gets an upgrade, serious shooter is in the $200 and up classs and comp level gets into the $400+ range easily.

Definitley

I am hoping to be down that way this summer but will probably have the buggy on a trailer and won't want to park within 200 miles of LA or San Diego

Well then park somewhere and take the train to LA. I went to this place called The Rack in the valley last week and the house cues were really nice. I was surprised my friends said not to bring my cue.

Brett's cue is fiberglass I think...

hahahaha nah I aint leaving my truck, buggy and trailer anywhere unattended in SloCal...theres some shady mofos down there and I am bound to lose all three the second I stop to get gas.

Come on out to the Hammers or the Salton and we will find a bar to wheel into and shoot a game or two.
