WTF? v.Paypal
Okay, so I'm checking my email as I do every morning. And I see an email from paypal asking me to confirm my order. I didn't order anything, I haven't used paypal since like July of '05. I see that somebody used my account to order a $400 watch. So I immediately cancel it so I don't get charged for it. I have the guy's full name & Address...should I sue this guy even though he's in Chicago and I'm in NC? I know I'm going to cancel my paypal account...I don't want this to happen again. Anybody got advice or a past experience?
Make sure also that it isn't just a scam e-mail. Verify that all links are actual links that direct you to a secure http:// address. I get those at times too stating that my bid was won and I need to pay or that the money has been drafted from my account.
Yeah, please tell me you physically opened a browser window and typed https://www.paypal.com and you didn't "go to paypal" through the link supplied in the email.
Here's what happened...I clicked the link for "Dispute Transaction" and that took me to paypal.com and I filled out the info. to cancel the transaction. But here's the thing. I opened my paypal account with one debit card...but I lost that one. So when I got a new one, it had a different number & stuff. So I don't think it matters anyways...because whoever tries to use that old number won't get anything because it's cancelled.
*EDIT* - the email didn't ask me to confirm it, my bad, the exact title is:
"Your payment has been sent to mailto:sales@omegamove.com"

Okay, I just went to the bank...told them that if they see a $400 transfer, so tell me because I didn't authorize anything. I also cancelled my current debit card that had my number on there...and ordered a new one with a different number. I think I've covered my bases pretty well.
