Dreamweaver is a good way for beginners to gain bad habits about coding Its all point and click and you learn absolutely nothing when it comes time to having figure out something.

Which is fine, but if and when you do have the time learn the proper way then go back and look at your dreamweaver code and you'll cry.

basic html is not high level programming.

Just use dream weaver. It's just fine. If you need to get into hand coding, go for it. Most people will never see the code and don't have a need to see it either.

I've used Frontpage, Dreamweaver, notepad and vi. Dreamweaver would be my first pick for easy and speed.

Frontpage is even worse than Dreamweaver as to use Frontpage to its full potential the web server that you pages are being hosted on must have Frontpage extensions installed and even then those extensions are fool proof and easy enough to mess up a good site easily.

Dreamweaver is as I said good for the beginners, but you aren't learning HTML you are learning how to point and click and thats it. Any seasoned HTML coder can easily tell if someone has used a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver or Frontpage as the code is very messy and unorganized.
