Quite sad actually, but this was a long time coming.

Back in College, 2003-ish, the University's business school would always make us do case studies on successful companies. It was a given it would always be on:

1. Dell
2. Southwest Airlines
3. GM

and unsuccessful companies like:
1. Gateway
2. UAL
3. Ford

it's amazing that Ford actually outlasted GM, but both companies are screwed. Is there any recovering from this?

That's why they downsize. The fact of the matter is Ford's recent product lineup is pretty promising with the Ford 500, the new Mustang, etc. It's hopefully just a matter of time when they get back on their feet, but the fact of the matter is they have a shaky reputation to shuck first.

GM on the other hand is a mess. Their newer product lineup is as usual pretty lackluster and unless they do something very soon it's not going to bode well for the company.

IMO, no company should be allowed to get that big in the first place.

I never liked really anything ford made. Generic cheap cars/trucks. Good riddance.

yeah i know. but what i meant was that i saw this coming a while ago and was just waiting to see when it would actually take place. i mean come on, knowing that the worlds current supply of fuel is increasingly dissapearing while crazy oil prices and wars go on, this was bound to happen to a company thats invested a lot of its time making huge gas-guzzling vehicles.
