street racing

One of my friends just past away street racing last year. but now a year later another one of my friends got killed in a car accident street racing. Every one knows the danger of street racing so why do they still do it?
Its probbaly because i didn't start driving yet so i don't understand.

Nope you dont have to drive to learn street racing is dumb....

No offense to your friends, but I'd feel much worse if they took someone out with them. (Pedestrian, etc)

i blame movies such as fast and the furious...and need for speed underground.
i do like the movie and the game but it encourages street racing.

Sorry for your loss but honestly I am glad your friends were able to provide you with a solid example of what happens when you street race.

They need to put together a DVD of "street racing crashes" to show ignorant street racers what the possible consequences are. I don't think they fully fathom the idea until they experience it or at least see it happen... and just how easily it can happen.

i don't think that will work...my school already tried that and im still seeing an increase in street racing. there's now even racing teams emerging at my school.

Its not just movies. Street racing has been around since the early 50's when there really wasnt movies and media influence. People just have an addiction to cars/speed and are going to do it regardless of what people do or say. Its almost like prejiduces/racism. I hate to say it but no matter how much we talk about it and try and stop it, its always going to remain.

I am turning into devils advocate here but why do people mod their cars with turbos, s/c, etc and they say thing like "you shouldn't street race". Its a bunch of BS and we all know it. And then things like "only take it to the track". 99% of people who does mods to their daily daily drivers and 100% of them do it for performance. People are full of shit these days. Thats why I hate the whole "import scene".
