Girlfriend's CRV has problems.

Well, i threw new spark plugs and a fuel filter in today, and tried a set of 96 LS injectors (that didnt work at all), but the check engine light is still throwing a code 71 (quoting from All Data Pro "Misfire in cylinder one - probable causes: Fuel Injector, Fuel Injector circuit, Ignition system, Valve clearance, low compression). My inclination is that it is the injector, but it could be something else.

Yep it could even be 4 other things according to the ECU light.

Good deduction

i'm pretty sure the compression is fine (it was even across the board not too long ago, dont remember what the actual numbers were), the valve clearance is fine as there is no clacking, so that leaves 3 other choices...

did these problems start before you changed the plugs?

I posted the troubleshooting for this in the accord forum. Maybe the 6th gen DTC thread, try that.

looong time ago, even with the stumbling, but just yesterday, it finally got so bad that it threw the code.

oh yeah i have a sitewide license to alldata through work, that place is the shit.

You might want to find someone with an OBDII reader so you can measure that stuff or just take it to the dealer and let them diagnose it for $60.

sweet. since you're probably my best source of info right now, another route i'm thinking is something in the distributor. i have an 00 LS, and i know my distributor works fine, i was thinking of swapping distributors, but i have a feeling that something with obd2a and obd2b wont let it work right... you tell me?

The 00LS distributor is different than the 97 CRV/LS distributor because of the OBD2b and OBD2a differences...the plugs are different. Did you try just resetting the ECU? Whenever I get a misfire code, it will idle like shit...then I reset the ECU, and it runs fine...just an intermittent thing. Do you have spark? Test the wires for resistance, or throw in a new set. If you can get your hands on a spare distributor to try for free, definitely do it. You may have a weak coil that is on its way out. If you were in norcal, I'd let you try one of my distributors...I have 2 spares. :oh:
