Yes I remember odd and even days, I remember pumps closed, I also remember the lines formed at gas stations that circled blocks and people running out while in line waiting to get their 5 gallons of gas.

So this brought those memories back.

 

I probably should have stated that I took this shot yesterday.

 

I wasn't born back in the 70's though, but my mom said back then they had Gas wars, something like that

 

Yeah there was a gas "crisis" and they started rationing gas. The prices jump considerably (for the times) and it was general mayhem over gas. This is what sparked the DEQ as well as the reconfiguration of engines to make them more efficient. At that point just about every car sold in America had either an innefficient 6 cylinder or the option of a V8. Anything less than a 6 cyl really didn't do too ht on the sales.

 

I was born in the early 70s, but I remember my parent's Dodge Dart getting like 10mpg

Ummm....had that feeling for a long time, since the early 80s in fact and have been prepared for it ever since

Just so no one takes this as a worst case happening... This gas station is a tiny station that barely survives somehow since not many people stop into it. This is not some major station shutting down. I know they have small tanks and survive mainly on tire sales and small repairs moreso than gas sales.
