Popular Mechanics tests el cheapo mods
Often, people post here on HAN asking about various mods like the Tornado Fuel Saver, etc. Popular Science has a small article in the Sept. issue putting these and other mileage and performance "improvements" to the test.
I'm sure there's been other write-ups on this subject before, but I thought someone might find it interesting nonetheless...
Cliff notes on the Tornado and Intake Twister (ebay):
Test vehicles: 4 different 5.4 liter F350s
Results: "Both devices reduced peak hp by more than 10%. The Intake Twister increased fuel consumption by about 20%; the Tornado Fuel Saver provided no significant change." - Popular Mechanics, Sept. '05, page 104, 107.
Another notable item was the "Electronic Engine Ionizer Fuel Saver"
It actually caused an engine fire!
Bottom line: I'm probably talking to noobs when i say this but...save your money for real mods that you can be proud of, and don't install something that will cause more harm than good. If it seems too good to be true...well, you know.

some idiot on crsx was talking about how he could put 2 of those tornado POSs in his car for +30hp, then +10hp with an intake and +10hp with exhaust, then his rsx-s would have 250hp

Generally speaking, an automobile is an automobile. While you can try switching up the variables to an almost endless amount, the end result remains that these "wonder products" aren't worth the containers they're shipped in.

Hold on, you think that nobody drives a Ford F-series truck? It's not like the F-series has been the best selling vehicle in the country for the last 20-something years or anything.

i meant the f350 in particurlar, not all f-series. i see tons of f150's but hardly the 350's. maybe once ina blue moon for contruction.
