Default Weird stuff in the sky's tonight?

Hrm, well i live in nor-cal, Berkeley area and as i was driving home around 11, i looked up heading toward vallejo and i see some weight lights in the sky. They looked like lightning but it was more strobe style on and off. THen i thought maybe fireworks with overcast casue it was clowds lighting up but it was all the same color and constant on and off. Anyone see it? if ur in the area? or heard it in the news?

Sometimes you can see the northern lights as far south as Florida.
