Default How would you negotiate this...

Im in the market for another civic and i found this.

The person wants , 3.8K for the car. Ive research the prices on how much the car is going for with its miles and everything. Its only about 2K-2.5K...2.5K being in excellent condition

How would you go about bringing down the price? Ive never bought a car for more than its worth, usually i bring cash with me if im sure im going to buy it and just pay less because its up-front cash. Usually its only like 400-600 dollars off the asking price. but 1.8K off the price? never experienced this before, any suggestions? I know when i check this car out this weekend im only bringing in 2.4K with me, ill be ready to leave if the person doesnt budge on the price. But yeah, anyways, any suggestions guys?

do you HAVE to buy it off that guy? theres a billion civics out there, and if u see them going for 2-2.5k, why dont you just buy those instead of haggling w/some guy.

Jeebus! I bought my 92 CX 4 years ago with 104,000 miles for $1800 less than that guy is asking. It looks EXACTLY like that one. That guy's dreaming.

oh the ones i was comparing them too were from other states. In state though this was the best one i found in what seems like a pretty decent condition. I was just wondering how you guys would go about bringing down the price. All the hatches ive found in state are in horrible condition and people are actually thinking of selling them for the same price as the one above.

and no i dont have to buy from this guy, im just asking how you guys would go about bringing the price down. no way im willing to spend that much on a 11yr old car.
