Default Tj?

Alright, don't normally make these post but figured what the hey.
Looking at buying a new car in a few months, something new as I'm sick of old shitty cars that need all kinds of work done to them and being all rusted to shit thanks to crappy Canadian winters. Also I'm leaning towards a truck has due to body on frame construction my insurance will be several thousand dollars cheaper then a unibody car.

I'm thinking about getting a Jeep TJ, fills the newer catergory as they first came out in 97 (I believe). My cousin has one that I've driven a few times so I know how they ride and they aren't exactly corner cravers but that's the least of my worries. This is gonna be a daily driver for the next few years so I want something that'll last me and due to being a Jeep will maybe get a lift and bigger tires.

So I'm just looking for opinions from anyone who's owned, owns or knows anything in general about TJs.

IBc-bass

I don't own a TJ, but i do own a XJ with the same 4.0 I-6 motor. those things are almost bulletproof. good luck - i think a TJ will be replacing my XJ when the time comes.

a jeep is just about the most retarded daily driver there is. Bad milage, bad noise/ride/climate control. The only reason I can fathom for buying a tj is if you're fairly serious about off-roading, but even then, there are probably better options when it comes to daily livability.

vag-factor nearly triples with a TJ though...especially in beach towns.

Oh, I love mudding.
Honestly having driven and riden in my cousin's in all type of weather, it's no more loud then my civic was with rear seat yanked out and exhaust droning like a whore on the highway.
Climate control, that's what windows are for. As for ride it is a 4x4 it will be stiff, I drove a Grand Cherokee with the off road package daily for about a year and a half.
As for gas mileage...it's not that bad imo if you drive reasonably.
