Default :yay: Getting a new camera!!! :yay:

I just ordered the Olympus c-770 for my christmas present to me! It was only $339 (the local store wanted $500) and I paid for overnight shipping too (like $40)

I basically decided on this camera over the kyocera because nobody in town carries the kyocera and I didn't want to buy one without getting my hands on it first. The olympus may be a little worse for the action shots I plan on taking, but it seems to be a much better all-around camera. I can't wait to see how it performs. I'm going to Steamboat this week, so hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out.

yeah, and if all the stores discontinued kyocera, thats probably not a good sign either. I just feel more comfortable buying a camera from a real, reputable camera company rather than an electronics company.

Not a bad choice at all sir.

I'll be sticking with my Canon EOS A2, lots of slide film, and a film scanner for the forseeable future.

Kyocera makes Contax cameras. I.e. the cameras on which those Carl Zeiss T* lenses which Sony has been using lately became so famous. They're definitely a real, reputable camera company.

My main photography experience is with old-school 35mm (think early-mid 80s), so perhapse thats why I'm more familiar with olympus. I do trust that kyocera was a decent product, but like I said, I'm not going to buy one without playing with it

I ain't got the budget either. The camera was a present back like 6-7 years ago, the film scanner belongs to the University of Wisconsin. Rolls of slide film cost about 6 bucks, and so do prepaid processing envelopes.
