Default help a complete dp idiot.

I know pretty much nothing about digital cameras, but I'm trying to learn so I can buy the right one for christmas.

My requirements:

-at least 4 mp, preferably 5
-snapshot and advanced controls
-continuous burst (at least 2 frames/sec) capability
-no shutter lag
-small enough to carry everywhere (fits in baggy jean pockets)
-storage?

According to this buyer's guide I bought at the grocery store, I'm looking for an "advanced compact." Aside from general pic-taking, this camera will be used mostly for snowboarding photography (hence the need for continuous burst).

I'd like to keep it under $350, but it looks like most of the cameras that suit me are in the $400-500 range MSRP... i dunno if they're cheaper in the shops or online.

I didn't want to noob it up on a real dp website, so I'm asking you folks first. I'm no noob to photography, just digital.

TIA

Dell has been selling the Canon A95 for $280-290 range.

It's 5mp has snapshot and advanced controls.

Not sure about the continuous burst

small enough to carry every where (the A85 is and I believe they are the same size)

uses CF and you can buy a 1GB CF for under $100 and that's for SanDisk Ultra II CF.

no experience with M410R but I didn't like the V1

it's probably okay for just quick snapshot but the picture quality wasn't that great for a 5MP. I blame it on the cheap lens and sensor h: sony over plays the carl zeiss just like dodge over plays the hemi angle.

oh the only drawback to the A95 is that it uses 4 AA batteries.

but I already had a 40 pack of AA recharagables and charger so it wasn't a problem for me.
